Digg - Thing 6

Digg is described as a social web site and I think that is a great description. It allows a wide variety of people, interest sand intellect to all participate in news events from ridiculous to thought provoking. Have you ever read an article and wondered I wonder what other people think about it ~ well on Digg you can find out and contribute to the conversation. I thought it was cool that it has a self-policing aspect.

Wondered what a TWIT was and now I R one - Thing 5

Well, I guess you can say that I am officially a TWIT! I can see that you can add Twitter to the many ways you can communicate with patrons within the community setting. I think that it could be effective for both small and large activities, but am having difficulty envisioning it as a primary source of communication. I will enjoy watching to see how it is used at FPL.

Picture Sharing - Thing 4

I have had a Snapfish account for a long time so I can share family pictures. It is a great site and I have ordered many picture from Snapfish. I chose to open an accout and post a picture in Flickr.

I was impressed with the libraries that are using Flickr to market their programs. I viewed the Summer Program pictures from the Hennepin County Library and thought they were well done. One of the things that crossed my mind was the difficulty in getting parental permission from all the children that were in the pictures. We do still need to get permission. Right?

I was impressed that Libraryman has been posting on the Marathon County Public Library Flickr site since 9/2005. A neat idea for our library would be to post periodic pictures of our book displays so as to create an interest with our patrons so they would want to come in.

Adding New Subscriptions - Thing 3

I have been playing around on the internet to find sites that I would be interested in following and have been surprised about how many and varied there are. It has become a case of a little of this and a little of that. Good Times!
